Honestly, the "based" trope is retarded and hurts conservatives. Ideologies are complex and should be discussed more than that. Plus it just looks and sounds retarded.
They are. But the Left largely works on a tribal basis and operates as a unit. Its why they are so effective.
The Right is fractured, and easily dismantled because of it. The "alt right" makes the GOP uncomfortable so they will allow/help destroy them even if it means cementing further their losses.
Its one reason why so many on the Right are desperate for allies, even ones they shouldn't trust, but they are also doing the only chance they may have for a victory eventually. Its why little fronts like GG were vaguely successful, it actually had a major tribal grouping instead of single easily dismissed groups.
It's just individualism vs groupism, and is kind of an evolutionary bifurcation. Which behavioural/social strategy will succeed better than the other, which will allow more breeding, all that "animal" stuff that lies below the veneer of human hubris.
And as humans are social animals who became successful in part due to our ability to socialize and communicate, the group will play to all human strengths while the individual will be the struggle.
I see it a lot less and it actually does have a meaning. It's good to see in red pill stories. The uses that are cringeworthy to me are when they stick it with "based".

Non-based and cringepilled

Personally I think “red pilled” is worse.
