A national organizer for the group, Andy Zee, says that Steyer “may not want to be directly connected” to Refuse Fascism due to his future "political ambitions" as the connection to the group may not bode well in the public eye. Zee claimed to be none the less in direct contact with Steyer's assistant and "main advisor on impeachment."

Zee cites the pamphlet "The Coming Civil War," by Bob Avakian, the Chairman of the Revolutionary Communist Party and architect of the new synthesis of communism, to point out why the group demands “the whole regime must go.”
