Someone fill me in.. Why aren't the ballots double counted? Once by a dem team and once by a republican team, instead of this "count and watch".
Each state has a count collection where they cannot see the inside they only count envelopes.
Then each party counts dem/rep/invalid BLIND. Both parties then come together to share totals, any of the three are off and the totals of either don't match the envelope count, then they all have to recount again. A ball ache? Sure but cheating is going to be lower as neither side will want to be the one to cause mass invalidation and then count again. And second time around there's no worry of late votes coming because if the totals don't match the first envelope count then they just invalidate the whole states votes and potentially force a revote?
I just don't understand this "count and watcher" system. If they're watching they can be counting too.
