State troopers arrested an 18-year-old activist at the Iowa Capitol Thursday as a group rallied against proposed legislation that would increase qualified immunity for law enforcement officers and heighten penalties for some protest-related offenses.
Iowa State Patrol Trooper Dylan Hernandez states that Mulvihill asked him and Trooper Dalton Grell for their names and badge numbers. Hernandez says in the complaint that while he and Grell were about to leave for another assignment, Mulvihill "pushed my arm in an attempt to gain my attention."
My understanding is that the following is an appropriate reaction:
Five White people dead. Two of them children. And soon we’ll learn all about them and who they were in life, but all we know right now is that they are dead, and a 32-year-old Black man with a gun killed them.
You killed five White people. If there's anyone who's racist, it's a motherfucker who kills five White people. Your murders speak louder than your words.
The arrest from pulling the gun was from five years ago. During that arrest he also reportedly refused to comply with orders from cops with guns drawn until he was subdued by the police dog. Archive here.
The other things you link aren't priors. They are complaints stemming from a single incident for which a warrant was issued. They are clearly charges stemming from a domestic argument, likely with the mother of some of his kids.
Smart jury, I guess.
