And the reason is not Russia; Finland is not joining NATO because it's afraid of Russia.

Next elections in April are going to be about cutting spending. Socialist parties in this government has taken more debt than any other government ever before and Finland is going bankrupt. The right-wing parties say that following years Finland needs to cut €9 billion from annual spending and Finland's defense budget is about €6.3 billion dollars. Anybody seeing where this is going? When Finland finally joins NATO, it can cut its entire defense spending because Americans will subsidize Finland's defense. This is why joining NATO is important for Finland.

Neither Finland or Sweden spends 2% of GDP on their own defense and Finland brings massive liability in form of an unprotected 900 miles long border with Russia.
