Have you looked for jobs outside of your area that would require moving?
If you are truly worried then use some funds to secure your access to food and water at a minimum. As in start a garden, looks at ways to collect water and clean it for use if you can’t get a well. Keep easy to consume water on hand.
If you produce a lot of your own food, you care a lot less about food prices. Learn to preserve your food.
This is what I’m doing. I wish I started earlier, but as the saying goes: the best time to plant a fruit tree is a decade ago, but the next best time is now.
Get a job for an oil company
The book is much better. I don’t recall any of that DEI shit in it. Main character is still a selfish coward, but gets some redemption
