Iran refused to use chemical weapons when USA's boy Saddam used chemical weapons (which USA gave him) against them.
All Iranian regimes were fiercely right-wing, anti-communist, and against the Soviet Union in the Cold War.
Iran fought against al-CIAda, ISIS, Taliban, and other real terrorists (secretly funded by USA and Israel).
Iran refused to enter a mutual defense pact with Russia. (And they could have easily obtained nukes from them if they wanted to.)
Lowest government spending (13% of GDP).
Internal free market capitalism (as much as possible despite sanctions).
Freedom of exit if you don't agree with the regime.
In both cases only a small fraction of their DNA is from the PIE (Proto-Indo-European) people.
But the PIE-descended people dominated the region, and their language came to be spoken by everyone.
This happened in most of Europe, Persia, and India. (In Ireland's case, Germanic English, with much vocabulary from Latin and French, replaced Celtic Goidelic - but all of them are branches on the PIE family tree.) And then Western Europe spread the PIE languages to the New World.
