It's a very old strategy. Divide and conquer. A house divided can not stand.
The key for the wealthy / ruling class to stay in power is to divide the populous. So they try to sow division as frequently as possible. So it's beneficial to emphasize as many different groupings as possible and make their relatively minor issues seem like big deals.
What's sad is Yandex is actually the only good search engine now. Or at least one of the better ones. And thats not from like a first amenedment trying to find uncensored stuff angle, just for general search results. If the first 2 or 3 results of google doesn't have exactly what you need it's pretty much done, Google is just weird spam now. Yandex will actually find web pages based on what you searched.
At the same time though, Russia is literally waging war on another moderately stable and developed country so it's not like these actions are unprovoked. So alluding to some anti-russian conspiracy doesn't make sense when all Russia had to do was not start attacking another country.
