Some blamed Trump for it but he did the right things to keep businesses going so we should've had NEW businesses enter and malls expand like the early 00s Republican economy.
Many called it the 2016 retail crisis which is when it started and 2018 had a record amount of store closings. I don't for ONE moment believe it's online as we have had online all the way back to 08 where mass people bought stuff yet stores survived till 2017. For department stores one possible scenario is at least here they all got into gang punk clothing which families did NOT want so I wonder if the left gave kickbacks in the Obama years to certain businesses that under Trump the kickbacks were no longer valid?
Now that Bitten has won we haven't had a single new closure compared to 2018: yet we can't get any new openings here either but that may be just in Oregon issue as outside of our state you immediately run into more choices and better quality/quanity at the same stores at least during the Trump era not so sure now. Since both you could export/import data from each other (which was ingenious of the time) I'd like to see a remake for a safe but creative way for young kids to explore and expand. It NEEDS the ability to be able to share your works with each other as the original you could only print which took a lot of potential away so thus it largely went unnoticed.

I personally feel it may be due to several factors why the Switch Online is having it's current mess and dislike's.

That 1 minute trailer being not as impressive as the underground cave one shows to me that they scrapped a lot and they themselves DIDN'T seem enthusiastic showing it to us. I felt like they felt forced to show it to us and were not quite ready to.
I had a brainstorm recently and figured they may be making BOTW2 go partially or fully online so we can have the bigger worlds and complex storylines since they realized 2 things:
1: The Switch sucks for what they want out of it:
2: Chip shortages makes it too unknown to pump out an updated Switch and it will be the best compromise hence raising the online prices: I seriously doubt the N64 collection online is why they are raising the prices: This is more the likely explanation so we will be pacified.
If they admitted they were going to raise the fees to make BOTW go online it would enrage a lot of players just for one game. This is a good attempt to get on the fan's side so they can pay for the servers. If people don't want BOTW2 they can STILL have N64 games online. Also I think they know BOTW2's story will be controversial so that alone may anger fans for paying for online gaming.
I've notice a particular pattern in how the news goes thru stories and once you see it enough and you understand AI behavior a bit you too will sense this 'pattern' where it feels like certain news topics get recycled. The NEWS isn't actually 'news' at this point: Sometimes it's obvious as it's a story years out of date redone other times you have to like I said understand AI predictability a bit.
I feel there is a SUPER AI we don't know about running everything that makes even the 'light wave' super computer that doesn't use wires look as dumb as Spell N Speak © in comparison.
