looks up Marvel Comics
They're doing a Fortnite tie-in comic
I'm guessing it went badly.
It worked for Star Wars.
Oh wait, no it didn't. ?
Considering Disney owns two out of the three of those properties, I'm not surprised they're trying to hitch their wagon to the money train that was Fortnite. Now I'm just waiting to see what the fallout is from Epic's hubris, seeing as how they've now lost every last one of their iOS-device-based players.
The New Warriors Wokeness Reboot got delayed, and then quietly canceled as they realized that trying to take back terms such as "Snowflake" and "Safe Space", while making all the characters SJW caricatures, would be an utter and complete failure.
I halfway wish they would have gone through with it, if only so we could see how fast the sales numbers on the book cratered and the book died. I bet it would have left a nice, Wile E. Coyote-style outline in the ground where it hit the bottom of the canyon.
Man, I could have eaten a bag of Scrabble tiles and shit out a better origin story than that. Whatever EIC at Marvel greenlit that garbage needed fired along with the writer.
They could have just used Nanites ffs.
That's exactly where my mind went when I heard about the character. Have it set up so that the uncle/father/whoever the hell was working on an experimental nanite cloud designed to maintain always-on Internet connectivity and enhance the human body in the process. Nanites infect the kid before they're ready for prime time, he gets super powers, and you get Chuck 2.0 in comic book form. I mean, hell, the unoriginal fucks rip off every other idea under the sun, so why not go for broke and go with one of the oldest sci-fi tropes in existence?
Jake 2.0 did it before Chuck. There's probably other examples before Jake too.
Oh, crap. Got my "geeky dude gets super-abilities accidentally grafted onto him" shows from the '00s flipped around. I totally meant Jake 2.0, but my head mashed together that, Chuck, and Covert Affairs (which also had Christopher Gorham in it, but not as the lead). Thanks for catching that.
Bro, that is the best shitt everrr. I'm huffing som rihhtt nnnow. Thhy say itss onnlly ffor bloowing dest nd shitt offff youuur cmputr bt ii know hhoww it givves you pwerss.
I tried looking for sales figures but all I got was dead ends and conflicting information about what was delayed by Corona-chan. Maybe someone who gives a toss about the industry knows a reliable site...?
All I can say for sure is that Kibblesmith's Amazon page has a massive gap in 2020 where the New Warriors should be. Goes right from a Loki translation in May to... ugh... "DC Christmas Carols: We Wish You a Harley Christmas: DC Holiday Carols " this month.
this must have been some 4d troll by the writer
If only.
This came from the mind of a person who decided he was going to teach his kids (assuming he would be physiologically capable of fathering any) that Santa Claus was black, and to explain them only ever seeing regular Santa anywhere, he'd tell them that was "Santa's Husband" - and then went on to write a children's book about it
I am not making this shit up.
So yeah, no troll here. The horrifying truth is, this was 100% sincere on his part.
