For sure. Stabbings are usually thought to be crimes of passion because they are usually spontaneous and you can see overkill more clearly, but it doesn't mean that it can't be planned. Stabbings and beatings are usually worse ways to go than shootings. Guns are easier weapons to track and do forensics on. Most gun crimes are committed with illegally possessed or unregistered guns because they have a will and a way regardless of the law.

Paraphrasing this slightly as cannot remember the details 100%, but there is a story from the last few years in the States about an "incel" who stabbed a girl after she refused to go out with him.
He had what he stabbed her with on him and ready to use the moment she said no. Which is exactly what he did. He did not get turned down, go to find something, then went back after her. He likely knew he was not going to get the answer he wanted, or conversely he got the exact answer he wanted to justify his actions, and planned ahead for that by having the weapon on him and ready to use during their conversation.
