Some of them love the idea that they are fighting for an important cause, but the more accepted they become the more extreme they become. They burrow into new rabbit holes to prove that yes, they are actually interesting and unique.
If they were accepted and normalized then they couldn't blame their lack of success and crippling lack of personality on others.
They cant help it, this is why they will eventually push for the acceptance of paedophilia
