Sheep dogs repeatedly warned the sheep to not bring in wolves. The sheep derided them, imported mass numbers of wolves and were more than happy to lay down their lives to stop the sheep dogs from doing their jobs and fighting the wolves. I'm not surprised about wolves acting like wolves, if it thins out the genocidal empathy of the sheep.
