Fair enough, I was reading about it after the comment, I'm fairly ignorant about it I'll admit, so I shouldn't have commented on it. It does seem the way you said.
I don't know man, when I was reading about it and it looked exactly as you posited along with the US being forced to take on the burden of the European "powers" and being unable to back it up with gold anymore, so we abolished it to further strengthen the US dollar without having to rely on having gold to back our currency anymore.
