You're more optimistic than I am. My niece and nephew are gen alpha and they're just as bad as the younger half of gen Z when it comes to iCrap frying their brains since before they could walk. My mom has tried board games with my niece and hasn't had much success. My nephew is only 4 and he's autistic so his best hope is getting into PC gaming and becoming one of us in a decade or so.
That is more of a parenting problem. It might also be regional but I’ve seen it less at the stores and generally seen the parks more busy.
As for pen and paper, it still is super popular, much to Wizards trying hard to squash itself. Neon Odyssey made millions on a three book tabletop set kickstarter and some other tabletops I follow get funded day 1. Board games are hard to get into but they have to show interest first.
