I don't know how I missed this until now but there's a rumor that zipper tits Ellen Page is going to be Achilles in the upcoming "Odyssey" movie. So the supposed greatest warrior ever is going to be a 5' 1" woman who is probably under 125 lbs.
I don't know if this more tragic than Meryl Streep being rumored to be Aslan in the new Narnias
Achilles is dead in The Odyssey so perhaps Ellen Page will make a convincing skeleton. If the shot is cast with her as the skeleton laying horizontally, the height difference might go unnoticed without proper references in the shot.
yes, but Odysseus visits with him in the underworld.
Thanks, I actually didn't know this. I read The Iliad but it was a slog to get through. I was planning on reading the Odyssey but after reading the Iliad, I 've been too intimidated to start. Found it a little (very) boring.
The coolest thing I learned from reading The Iliad is learning that Achilles doesn't actually die in The Iliad. We only learn of his death from The Odyssey when it's spoken to. Also, there were "working women" (so women who aren't having kids and married to a man) in the Iliad that come from the island Lesbo. I nearly died when I read that. I had to look into it more and the mainstream narrative insists there's 0 connection whatsoever to Iliad describing career women (working women) as being from Lesbo and our terminology for homosexual women as lesbian with the short-form being lesbo. Personally, I don't believe much in coincidences of this magnitude. God has a sense of humor.
It's funny most of what people know about the Illiad isn't in the actual poem. It's been awhile since I've read either. I was a big greek mythology nerd as a kid. For myself I find the Odyssey more user friendly than the Illiad. It's a more straightforward story. If you do try the Odyssey again, make sure you check the translator. I'm told the Nolan movie is based on a translation from some hardcore leftist feminist.
