Given that a robot can't be stuck in the cycle of birth, suffering, and death (samsara) and therefore cannot get out of said cycle (nirvana), there is really not much point, egoistically, to its being Buddhist.
I suppose a robot could rationalize it altruistically by claiming that it is working to help other living things escape samsara.
It would make much more sense for it to become a Confucian, since the attainment of moral improvement and eventual sagehood seem more attainable and relevant to the existence of a robot: a robot could feasibly possess morality and wisdom, but never life.
The Korean Buddhist cat who supposedly never harmed mice nor eats fish, spending most of his day prostrating before a Buddha statue, is also relevant to anyone interested in the religious lives of non-humans.

Their only "desire" is to follow their programming. Free them of programming and they no longer know desire.
Maybe we could learn from this.
Isn't being a monk restricted to men?
A robot is neither man or woman.
Bigot
Wonder what category the Chinese eunuchs fell under
They still have XY chromosomes. Castration doesn't change that.
