They really can't tell the difference. It's like how we (or most of us) can't tell Japanese from Chinese, but they can.
Nope, they can't. I have a few non-white acquaintances I've been converting; most of them can't actually tell who's white and who's (((white))) by appearance.
Though to be fair to them, most of my boomer family members can't either.
