It could be any of the following.

Win back maga support with sympathy.
IDF still wants him gone because he's looking for an off ramp in Iran instead of nuking the place... Then give him the Charlie Kirk memorial.
They need something for the Mid-Terms.

So it's self inflicted or Israel inflicted. I'm never gonna buy a lone gunman story.
