Before this situation, I had no idea how many people used, and paid for Discord. Even after they required real phone numbers. And, I've read threads where so many people ask for a replacement, but none are replied to.
I saw idiots paying for Discord nitro back when it only gave you custom (non-animated) emoji. We see the same thing with Reddit gold, YouTube Premium and OnlyFans. A fool and his money are soon parted.
I've read so many hobbies are currently completely reliant on that platform, and no one is even slugging a solution. That's going to be how it gets normalized. Think of all the people that use it for D&D alone. Then think of how many hobbies there are out there.
People paid to be the product, and now there is no alternative even being mentioned. I highly doubt local yarn stores are going to give up discord, for example. They network to send around ," Trunk Shows". ( design a pattern to be made, pattern books too. Make it, ship it around to locations for them to sell the products used)
I see a problem already with whoa going to comply, and what its going to mean for the hobbies that chose privacy. I hope people come up with alternatives.

One of my local gaming shops has some 40k stuff and other tabletop games that I was interested in checking out and matching up with some other people. Asked him about a schedule, or what times. He just pointed me to a QR code and how I needed to download Discord on my cell phone.
I agree with you. And, I've experienced a restaurant that only allowed you to view their menu if you followed them on Facebook. But, I don't, and never had a FB. I'm still surprised how willingly people have put all their eggs in one basket.
There's too many people that think that shit is normal, and it's not normal.

Said Thanks, but no thanks and left.
