As far as i know they coulda just kept them all hidden or destroyed them all. Some heads would roll but that would be it. Is this about deliberately dumping all the info and then downplaying the jewish involvement in the operation?

Selective demoralization. Give each side a bone to gnaw on, ultimately do nothing, prevent further investigation.
