My mom wanted to see a movie over the weekend and giving the SpongeBob movie a shot looked like the best option. I didn't have very high hopes since the series went to shit 20 years ago but it was an okay movie. It wasn't amazing but it blows the last 20 years of the series out of the water. The negativity surrounding it seems out of place considering the slop that passes for entertainment these days. Even the CGI animation wasn't too awful since they used a style that approximated the original 2D animation. It's not a must see by any means but if you're a fan of the Sponge and want something to do on a lazy weekend I can recommend it.
