I saw someone linking The Lifeboat Foundation to Epstein and I looked into this foundation. You can't tell me that hundreds/thousands of highly educated professionals sit around and discuss how they can save the world from a blackhole all day, right? I mean, that's a fun discussion when shooting the shit with your science nerd friends after a few beers but an extensive "foundation" like this and how serious it is... What's really the purpose of these things? What benefit do the members derive from it?
It feels like a front to push government regulations in certain areas that would be beneficial to the members under the guise of saving humanity.
These types of groups to me strike me as dangerous and should be dismantled. They're in effect trying to make themselves appear as an aristocracy that the government should pay more attention to instead of the general public. Thoughts?
These things are pretty much all money laundering fronts, although most of them at least pretend not to be as useless as this one. I imagine its beneficiaries list is similar to USAIDS'.
So, how does this sort of thing work to launder money exactly?
Might depends on if they actually receive government funding I think. There's quite a few quirky and niche scientific clubs and communities that I think are simply extra enthusiastic and dedicated to an idea or subject.
There's this one I'm trying to remember that seemed particularly focused on researching potential space propulsion and FTL-related solutions. Seemed like it was something that would've spawned from a bunch of scientists and engineers who wanted to collaborate ideas (probably started as an email list or something).
Seemed too low-key to be receiving much if any funding beyond some voluntary donations.
