They are literally .bmp files which as far as I can recall no modern mainstream web browser engine can display.
Have never had a problem opening .bmp files in several decades including earlier today.
In a web browser? Which one? Otherwise they download to persistent storage and open with an eternal viewer application. They aren't displayed inline on a webpage in a browser.
