Wars typically kill young men with no prospects in life and no hope of reproduction who are already on the verge of suicide because of their shitty lives.
Now they do. Back then (pre-1940), by the time you were ~22, you usually had a couple kids who could walk and another in the oven when you enlisted. Now we're waiting longer and having less of them.
Because women are high standard whores who refuse to settle.
