I dunno what you mean by thousand religions into one but its the 3rd biggest religion after Judaism
I mean that it's not.
It's 10,000 local cults that worship something different, often with some relation and past history or overlap, but often with as much in common as Mormons have with muslims. Each. It's only fair to say it is the same religion if you really squint. There's more cultural overlap, sure, but to say they all share a faith is, nonsense. They worship different gods, and have different beliefs.
Because of the shared cultural stuff, it's easy just to class it all as one broad thing (which their muslim them british rulers did do), and they want to have respect (and be seen as the world's 3rd biggest religion, and to have people believe that) so they themselves will also now be pushing that narrative, but it's all bullshit (fake, not the stuff they swim in). Being more charitable, it's fairer to say it's a fuzzy set of different religions with overlapping cultural traditions, in the same vein as the feather indians or australian aboriginies, who have some cultural commonalities when seen from outside, but are worshiping something different from one another when you go further than the next tribe over, but more developed, with a couple of more centralised and bigger tribes. It's just 10,000 local religions.
