I came across one of those articles from a shill website that have the "these movies from past decades that everyone loved are actually bad" theme. They criticized Gods Must Be Crazy for "glorifying colonialism". Made me want to rewatch since I haven't seen it as a kid and it was one of the movies we rented from blockbuster as a family and enjoyed (at least one Friday a month we would go to blockbuster and get pizza) we got a lot of laughs from the movie.
I found that the movie is on youtube and there are parts 2, 3, and 4 that I plan to watch eventually. I watched it and enjoyed it as much as I did before. Nice funny movie about a tribesman trying to get rid of the evil coca cola bottle by throwing it off the edge of the Earth.
Definitely worth a watch if y'all have the time. Hopefully those articles that serve to crap on what came before only to shill for the slop that is out today makes people go watch those movies they are attacking.
Any other "problematic" old movies on the list? I haven't seen The gods ... in it's entirety so I'll add it to the list. Unfortunately a lot of old media is impossible to find, all the big media retailers want you to buy it or don't have it at all. For example, Fraggle Rock, original Blues Clues, and Mister Rogers. I keep a VHS collection but even thrift stores don't always sell tapes.
Off the top of my head they had issues with Police Academy and Revenge of the nerds
Police Academy was a favorite back when I was a kid. I guess blacks can't be funny anymore, they have to be serious and strong.
True. Although the person writing the article whined about them sneaking a look at the women in the showers and the guy saying there are an awful lot of spades around here and then he saw Hightower and said and that’s a good thing
The people that use that word enough that I notice they use that word, get on my God damn nerves.
Yeah, those pearl clutching types are aggravating.
