GamerGate had several "hub" boards on 8ch, with the /burgers/ board eventually being renamed to /gg/. This however, turned out to be a honeypot for the GNAA and got co-opted, temporarily derailing the movement. Eventually, everyone moved to a new board (I want to say /gamergate/?) and things were fine for a couple months, before the board owner, an ESL called Niko, gave the login details to troll operatives representing the AyyTeam, who got that shut down as well.
This caused a rift in the community, with two competing boards: /ggrevolt/, who wanted to follow what Seattle4Truth had discovered and was generally more /pol/-aligned and aggressive towards those who ideologically opposed us, and /gamergatehq/, ran by Cole Lamberson, who instead wanted to focus on "muh pr" and allying us with femishits and fag journos to make GamerGate look good, seemingly unaware of how futile that turned out to be.
A power struggle ensued, and sadly /gghq/ won. The remaining GG movement dissolved from the thousands, to the hundreds, to mere 10s at its worst moment. It took until Trump before the online right regrouped and became stronger than it ever was.
Every year that passes and deepfreeze is still non-functional, my memories grow increasingly fuzzier. Apologies if I got a couple things wrong. But this motherfucker was far worse for our movement than any hack journo or femicunt ever was.

Precisely. GG flourished when it was a leaderless movement with many different directions and side operations. I remember when we discovered the link Quinn and all those others had with Microsoft and the WEF. Felt like we'd pulled a mask off.
Then Cole comes along with his astroturfed board and demands all we fucking do is "PR" this, "PR" that. Ally with every remotely non-misandrist feminist mouth piece out there. Ally with every grifty gayming journo who wasn't a total retard. Hold talks in College campuses. Whiteknight every figure that was getting attacked or excluded from the rest of the industry.
And it fucking dove off a cliff because we were getting nowhere. We had ZERO representation politically. They had 10 - 15 years of EVE Online racketeering to fall back on, hence Paul "Stonetear" Combetta and all the other powerful Goons in the US government. We had no-one. If Trump didn't announce his Presidency and didn't win, the right would have basically been silenced on the internet for eternity. Pizzagate also played its part and I hope one day, the truth will come out.

I never fucked with the GG stuff on the other chans, as they all sounded autistic and full of more slapfighting than any value (KIA at least had some mainstream exposure by being on Reddit and brought in new news), so it feels quite cathartic to know it was exactly as expected.

Its funny thinking back on how the word "alt right" started being used by a lot of us organically, then suddenly it was this specific group of baddie bad thinkers who needed to be banned everywhere. Despite just weeks earlier being basically anyone who was a Trump supporter or just not supportive of the established GOP types. And of course all the "GG is actually a Leftist movement" faggots who went along happily with it trying to ban T_D posters and acting like we were totally killing the movement by calling out faggots and women as the root of the problem.
For the religious among us, its truly a testament to God's will that despite all the obstacles set against us we managed to still succeed, even if GG really only managed minor victories, it inspiring many to stand up against the SJW/Woke brought back the Right wing among the younger people. And now, a scant decade later a lot of the things we railed against are starting to finally unravel which is wild considering how before GG/Trump it felt hopeless and like we'd never escape.
Never give up hope bros, even if these types of losers get their victories we can still keep it going.
