I don't see how anyone doesn't think we lost actual free speech years ago. It may be getting even less free, but the crucial first crack was made over a decade ago. That was the hard part to recreate.
Like I get it, potentially even more more restrictive speech limitations might be looming, but actual "free" speech has already been lost, and simple up/down fluctuations of more/less restricted speech are not nearly as rare as a truly free speech society.
