I'd argue it's both. The leftist reaction has been...enlightening to many, but if it had been some right-winger who killed Kirk, that would let them shift some of the blame and attention from the left and their gravedancing. While not as much as they once did, the left still controls a lot of the media. being able to successfully turn this into a case of a 'violent rightwing extremist,' like they've been trying to, would be a win for them, and let them hide.
We can't let them hide from their gravedancing, or that it was a leftist who murdered Charlie Kirk. Both are important to hammer home.
