Women went from being very respectful to men, being appreciative of the role men played in society and being very nice and courteous to seeing men as the enemy. Women started acting mean towards men.
Men took notice and adapted by no longer going out of their way to be overly kind to women.
Women can easily change men's behavior if they want by being nice to men. The nicer women are to men, the nicer men will be to women. Women are the gender that changed the way they treat the other gender first. It's up to them to change back if they liked how things were before more.
Men have changed since the mid-70's too. We're generally much nicer than we used to be, by and large. Our reward is getting blamed for everything & treated like dirt. Like you said, it is women who've gotten nasty.
