Off topic, but for the thumbnail, the main point of that white and red bold text style (however you feel about it) is to be concise and eye-catching. This is like the lefty meme of thumbnails. It needs to be short, instead. Off the top of my head, something like "Japanese Director Calls out Western Wokeness" or something. You get at most two lines, and one is better. Three is just a mess. It's a thumbnail.
Nah, still too many words, though. Cut "Ghost in the Shell" for sure, as it's in the title anyway. Not a huge draw, if we're talking trying to immediately catch someone's eye, too. A simplification like "Japanese" would be fine.

You could probably squeeze that into two lines and it still be legible with a slightly smaller size and tighter letting and kerning.
