The next year is going to be really telling for Trump. There will be hard numbers to compare against his statements today. it will be very interesting to see how the market's play out, and you can expect Democrats are going to do their best to keep the downward momentum going.
The tariffs won't work. American tariffs work when they're targeted at a single country and we beat up on them. Trump is fucking with everyone's money -- Europe, Asia, Latin America, everyone! Now everyone has a reason to jump us on the playground to settle the score.
And yet countries that have become extremely fiscally lean in recent memory -- like Argentina -- are demonstrating cooperative trade efforts with the US. They're setting an example and they're in a position to set an example. If they're eager to work with the US it signals to others that opposition is probably due to financial incompetence or some dishonest motive.
If I was American (maybe one day considering the state of the UK) I'd be stocking my pantry up.
Yes, this might go well for American industry now, but it'll just take one single dem president in the future and you can kiss those tariffs goodbye. Then it's back to mass outsourcing.
Australia has zero tariffs on U.S products, the U.S also has a large trade surplus with Australia, the only country in the world it does have a surplus with. Trump just picked a fight with Australia for no reason.
My comment and the comment I replied to had zero to say about tariffs… why are you so defensive about a fascist country that was ready to put people into prison camps?
We have no tariffs on U.S goods as per the trade deal we both signed. I don't understand why Trump would pick a fight with a friendly country when the U.S has a massive trade surplus.

We aren't tarrifing everyone. We are tarrifing those that are tarrifing us.
Everyone is getting slapped with a baseline 10% no matter who they are. Everyone.
Trump is fucking with everyone's money, even if they've been an ally this whole time.
Everyone has a reason to jump us on the playground to settle the score.

At this point America as a country both structurally and morally is on such shaky ground that one single dem president would collapse it.
Like Europe and Australia?

At least we didn't try to bankrupt, imprison and ultimately kill one of our political candidates.
Australia had tarrifs on US goods. They're not high but they are there.
"As Australia generally has low tariffs on US goods (often under 5%),"

With what? Graphics cards? This is such a brit way of thinking, everything is the blitz and the solution is beans on toast.
were so used to short term dopamine that we can't even be assed to do some short term pains for long term gains.
