Eh. They have the impression of power. There really is some truth to the whole 'the only one who can cancel you is you' idea. It's not 100%, and they can get their scalps, but generally their victims are at least slightly willing participants. Tate got deplatformed everywhere. They tried to get him. And it just made him stronger, because he didn't cuck.

My theory is they were trying to discredit the manosphere and the red pill in particular

A possibility, yeah. Don't know enough about him to say either way, personally.
