Here's the difference: China actively recruits these teachers from abroad. They're invited to go to China and teach. Still, they really should research the legal/ political situation, but I don't blame them for assuming they wouldn't be scammed. Speaking the truth about China has been "verboten" on social media since the Obama occupation. Normies also take the world for granted.
