And you should not be making that choice for someone else, especially one who depends entirely on you for protection.
If it was that simple of killing yourself and everyone around you in misguided compassion with "lol well heaven awaits" then you should be in Africa right now with your own family helping the tribes.
Clearly though, its a little more nuanced than that.
There is no nuance to the matter that God will reward them. It's not like they pointed a gun at themselves and pushed the trigger: they tried to do good in a rational way and by the light of their conscience. No one can expect three men to barge in, kill the couple and kidnap a child to traffic. That could happen to any family, foster or not.
See, this is where we disagree. In my case, it’s not even necessarily that this kid was black. I’m sure that this particular mother and foster case threw up a collection of red flags. You say they acted with rationality and never could have expected anything like this, but I’d bet there was at least one signal that this kid’s mother was violent and could be dangerous.
Which doesn’t mean that the family deserved this, just that their naïveté isn’t as celebrated and holy as you’re acting.
We don't get to know the details.
No, you refuse to acknowledge the details because it undermines your point.
If compassion was enough to guarantee the reward no matter the ignorance or naivety, then you, right now, should be going out into the jungle to help tribe's people. And when they kill or torture then kill you, you get your reward that supersedes all other things.
The fact that you, and most, aren't means there is in fact a level of nuance to this you are trying to sermon around.
