"Empathy" is just a made up word* women introduced into Psychology to champion their superior "emotional intelligence" narrative. Because too many times they got hit back for trying to sympathize with someone with lines like "how could you possibly understand what I'm going through."
So they created this super awesome power to just be able to emotionally resonate with people on everything regardless of their privilege or identity. When in reality it was just sympathy repackaged to pretend it wasn't 1st World White Women crying about pain they couldn't understand to begin with.
