I'd prefer the "Why I pretended to by chased from my home and why I killed my dog" video but I think the core push of what started movements like Gamergate have lost their initial thrust to things like Triggernometry and Pierce Morgan mudding the waters.

Well, mostly the best and brightest have moved on to more important matters. Gamergate exposed one of the beast's tentacles, but it reaches much farther than just entertainment.
I'd still say all matters are important. The micro reflects the macro and all of the new blood, all of us crazies here, is a mirror to how regular conversation can't be had on what was the Internet these days.
You want to mention that nothing beats a Jack and coke? You're going to have to find a place where discussing alcohol consumption is allowed, and while Jack Daniel apparently never owned any slaves - he must have at least traded with people who did, and Coca Cola started Fanta because they didn't want to be seen to be aligned with that ruling government of Germany circa 1938, but still wanted to turn a profit.
Turns out to enjoy mentioning a favourite tipple you're going to have to hang with the other elements of humanity that you normally wouldn't associate with. Now it's just a matter of how much you want to talk about that tasty beverage.
Don't worry. You're being multicultural. To have that same conversation in Indonesia you'll be chilling with some folks that you'd normally be taking down for their unconventional appetites. Cant enjoy a decent bourbon there unless you are hanging out with the actual bad guys who just about everyone on the planet would prefer not to be here.
And so there is the beast whose tentacles Gamergate was one of. The beast is all around and doesn't ever seem to be content with how much it controls.
Of course it still matters. It's just that many of the people who were there in the beginning aren't going to spend their entire lives focused on gaming, as people tend to grow, and change as they do it.
