The number of people I’ve seen defending ghost of yotei’s pivot to “yet another girl boss main character”… I’d like to think it’s mostly just crypto lefties who are falling back to a more defensible position, but it really does feel like normies rejoicing in the water’s return to a slower boil.
Why can’t we prefer that established male franchises remain male? Why can’t a preference for male protagonists be respected the same as any other? It reminds me of the illegal immigration debate. “You can turn everything female, but you need to do it the right way!”
I've seen it too. But we have to take into account the sort of thing that Sucker Punch is now okay with, as the person they got to voice the character's opinions are all out there to see. So they're either fine with it, or complicit in it.
So they're going to have to start thinking that it's acceptable to distance someone's actions from their work. Which then means J.K Rowling is fine too.
It's a no win situation for them.
Wait a minute - you're thinking the left is going to brought to heel by pointing out that it's a double standard?
