it doesn't have any pumpkin in it, it's literally just some fucking flavouring

I used to have this (understandably) mistaken assumption as well. "Pumpkin Spice" is the spice blend they use for seasoning pumpkin, like for pies: cinnamon, nutmeg, and cloves. Sometimes one or two others. It is not the pumpkin itself.
