Ezra Levant reports from Chatsworth, Ontario, where the Trudeau Liberals' bureaucrats have targeted an Amish community with massive, punitive fines for failing to use the ArriveCan travel app — despite the Amish not using smartphones, let alone application...
But....but....but....Jesus said love and stuff.
He also took up a whip and chased merchants and money changers from the temple.
Within a week he was dead.
Yeah, it was sarcasm. The proprietors of the church of weak Jesus loves sin, well I believe their fate was prescribed as it being better to be tied to a millstone and cast in the sea.
I would hope people figured that out by the repetition at the start of your comment but then some miss the point of these things.
Sarcasm noted. However, my take on the "turn the other cheek" lesson is that it only applied to insults. I don't believe that it was a directive to remain passive while being abused.
someone here mentioned that Roman culture held that slapping with the back of one's hand was reserved for doing to slaves, which means that turning the other cheek would suggest to the Roman to then slap you with the palm, as if you were an equal.
furthermore: in those times a Roman could lawfully force people to carry his gear/whatever for a mile, but any more was illegal and would get him potentially punished. "going the extra mile" isn't just being a pacifist pushover but trying to get said person in trouble.
Jesus told us to be defiant, not doormats. in that case He was speaking to destitute people who couldn't do much more than peaceful protest - in these times, if He spoke to an entire Christian continent, armed and dangerous as we are, i have faith He would tell us to do different things to the evil currently in the world.
