It's a big, big game that ends up with so much going on that later sequels are just going to be crushed by all the player generated history from the past games, let alone how poorly the new hires at the company will fuck it up.
What should be considered with any potential W4 is just how much it DEIs and gets the SBI treatment where the lead will be a female witcher, despite those being almost non-existent in any of the games, how much blatant woke pandering and virtue signalling will happen from random NPCs would you can't even get rid of but will tell you their entire life story as if it's a Twitter bio with pronouns and other info nobody even asked about.
The best thing any W4 game can do is completely ignore Geralt and every other W1-3 character because it will inevitably fuck them up through incompetence and/or malice when trying to "big up" the new OCs because modern writers can only ever drag down existing characters for comparisons rather than write something that solely benefits the new OCs. But then that premise also faces the problems of:
A) Make it a prequel so it's detached enough the existing characters, but then why the fuck has nobody heard of the new OCs if they end up doing important thing? Aka, why are all the black dwarves from Ring of Power dead by the time of Lord of the Rings? Woops, unintentional genocide by Woketards yet again! 🙄
B) Make it a sequel but then fill it with retarded references to the other games because when it comes to actually writing any depth to a story or character the "best" modern writers can manage is either to flat out copy and paste other things or end up with a mess of pronouns and other IDPOL that has all the depth of a wide puddle.

Have a prequel where we can play as Vesemir in his prime, you tell players we can play as the Witcher universes Uncle Iroh in his prime with no DEI shit, money would pour in so fast that people would confuse CDProjekt Red for a Bank!
If you played as Vesemir or even one of the original Master Witchers working on the Bestiary you could have a nice prequel that slots right into the trilogy.
No, this is literally the problem with post peak franchise work. Take an established character and shit all over them, in particular one who dies a heroes death fighting for his friends and family. Tv show already did this by having him try and kill Ciri so future work will be just as bad or worse.
Heart of Stone DLC at least managed to add on some minor lore points with the character and set up that missed romance Vesemir had with the old woman you meet at the auction, but I wouldn't see that stopping woketards still trying to spin some gay angle with his other life since witchers are immune to a lot of diseases therefore "monkeypox, hoe!" in their minds.
