I won't pretend to have anything more than a cursory view of Islam but they deny the divinity of Jesus Christ. As a Christian you know our shared Christian faith is based on the divinity of Jesus Christ. No amount of Muslims mentioning Jesus as a prophet or honoring Mary will unite us in Faith.
Honestly, the subject of the exact nature of the divinity of Jesus is probably just about the oldest schism (or perhaps heresy, considering the side of the schism who believed in his total divinity came to completely dominate the discussion going forward). But you’ll find this was a common thread among these earliest of schisms/“heresies”:
Yeah there were Arians but their views are denied by most Christian religions. I'll acquiesce that most of mainstream Christian faiths are dependent on the divinity of Jesus Christ
