The Right has been totally addicted to the cathartic release feedback loop of memes and being angry online. It triggers the same emotional release as actual action, but with no risk (and no actual reward). But it feels close enough that the right has told themselves memes are basically the same as defeating the Left. And it's one of the reasons they're so hard on calling people glowies and fedposters. Anyone shining a light on the fact that their performative online outrage to an audience of likeminded people has zero impact on the real world pulls the curtain back and makes them think about the fact they're feckless and impotent. Feeling like you're losing turns out to be a lot more scary than actually losing. Feeling like you're winning while actually losing however requires the least input while offering the most emotional return.
They got addicted to "Donald Trump memed in to the White House" that they couldn't even fucking notice that the entire Trump meme machine was shut the fuck down, and has been for eight years. Tech companies banned Trump meme accounts from the entire internet.
Now they just post memes to each other and think they're winning.
And it's one of the reasons they're so hard on calling people glowies and fedposters.
Nah, when someone with a new speech pattern has joined only within the past month or so and starts fedposting when something serious happens, people are going to be suspicious.

Yep. They're still making "Meme Warrior" and "Meme Veteran 2016" memes even now. It's fucking embarrassing.
