When you go to the Battledome chat board most of the players are males
When you go to the customization board, most of the players are females
(And then there's the attention seeking assholes who call themselves "other" but we don't talk about those)

That's not to say guys don't customize or girls don't battle. Most players do both. But its clear who has greater interest in what.

I have a Neopets account that's approaching 20 years old and my poor neglected pets are still around. Maybe I'll do something for them after all this time. I logged into the site for the first time in over a decade a year or two ago and they've sent me several emails about returning since.
It's the same with The Sims series. It was always a female leaning franchise but 4 is way more female leaning than 3 because the house building and Sim design options got better while the actual gameplay went to shit.

These kind of stats completely skew gaming and are the reason that devs are trying to pander to normies who have zero interest beyond some specific features they mess around with exclusively. Same goes for all the skin collecting addicts out there, none of these 'gamers' play video games. Real gamers abandon these games and then these are all that's left which makes the devs think that's all they need to do in order to attract customers. Then they wonder why their sales are tanking hard with newer releases.
