Honestly: potentially.
We actually ask them not to because they are so much more likely to create a worse international situation that it isn't worth the trouble to have their help.
Hell, we ask Jordan for help from time to time and we normally get it. I don't see why Israel wouldn't help... if asked.
Our government wouldn't ask because it is owned and operated by dual citizens whose first loyalty is not to the united states. Remember the USS Liberty? Ask those sailors what a wonderful ally Israel is.
The government is primarily owned and operated by Fabian Socialists who have no loyalty to the United States. Dual citizenship is just a side show of internationalism.
The USS Liberty strafing was accidental, promoted by the incompetence of the Israeli Navy, and the negligence of the Israeli Airforce.
I've never said Israel is a "wonderful" ally. Frankly, France is a better ally than Israel has ever been.
The attack on the USS Liberty lasted for two hours, killing 34 sailors and wounding 171. Liberty was repeatedly hit by torpedoes and napalm, and its deck was also strafed by Israel motor torpedo boats as Liberty's crew were doing damage control and trying to lower lifeboats. Most people would not regard people who persistently tried to kill then as an ally. Your experience may vary.
I am well aware of the attack on the US Liberty, far more than you are. And to that, I still give extreme credit to her crew who managed to keep the ship afloat in some of the heaviest bombardment a US ship has ever seen outside of WW2. It's a miracle she survived, and that miracle's name is "Fire Control Team".
The ship was misidentified by the Israeli Navy as an Egyptian destroyer. The IAF relied on this misidentification, and only realized that it wasn't Egyptian when someone discovered that the ship's ID was written in Latin letters, rather than Arabic letters. From that point, the attack was called off.
Aren't there air bases in Jordan? That means we owe them, but it's kind of both.
I mean, Qatar is almost entirely funded by the US military base there, and it actively supports terrorism against the US, and is currently hosting the head of Hamas...
