---OG Japanese version: "Is your war (with PTSD) finally over?"
Woman conveys care and love for man
---Netflix botched english dub and subtitles: "Can this war of yours finally be done?"
Woman seems pissed off with man that he's inconveniencing everyone
Apparently the subtitles in movie theatres were more accurate whilst both the Netflix dub AND subtitles are fucked. Netflix subtitles is literally just dubtitles (as in its just the dub)
God forbid a woman love a man enough to let him deal with his shit without passive aggressive attitude.
The entire movie you can tell she is tired of his inability to let it go, but instead of provoking him by being a bitch about it she understands that he literally saved her life and continues to provide for her despite it all.
You know, like a good and understanding wife would. Which is why he eventually realizes he wants to live in the end.
It wouldn't even be an incorrect line read if she was like that the entire movie. But its a full 180 from her normal personality and attitude.
Ironically, its something that a localizer should have caught, as its completely out of place both as a translation given context and how a woman in that time/place would speak.

I didn't see the movie so when I read the translation "Can this war of yours finally be done?" I thought that's actually on brand with women nowadays.
But given the context that she is somewhat understanding I get why people think the translation sucked.

Netflix doesn't really hire competent people anymore.
Just special little dipshits with a chip on their shoulder and a massive entitlement complex.
"Muh media literacy" creatures fail to do a media literacy.
