The most surprising part is that they even bothered to lie with data. It's a cult, you don't need data. It's a truism to them that 'diversity is our strength,' I'm surprised they felt the need to sell anyone on 'people want this, look at this data.'
After all, diversity is just good. That's unquestionable to their ilk. So, obviously, putting more diversity into a game is good. Furthermore, the whole deal with ESG is you're not selling to your customers anymore, you're selling to the big investment companies instead. So, if you're going to make a compelling financial argument for including diversity, it's as simple as 'Blackrock will give you $X! You'll even personally gain $Y if you're deemed Inclusive enough!'
So, yeah, not sure why they even felt the need for a fake study.
With how many hoops the OP had to jump through just to GET the data, I’m sure they mostly assumed most people would roll with it and not ask questions.
Cargo-cult scientism is a foundational part of the religion.
You need the fake study because this is a traditional ritual required by The Science and rituals have to be observed.
Exactly.
That's a misunderstanding of what Social Justice/Progressivism/Wokeness is.
Studies are sacred. It's liturgy. Like scripture, it must be interpreted by holy persons only. These are the credentialed experts. Only those anointed by the holy seminary of university may produce the studies which contain truth.
The ritual of the Study is important. It lends weight to the mysticism. It's why Christianity lost some prestige when the priests stopped speaking in Latin. The language itself provided that air of majesty. Just reading the plain old bible is lame. Likewise, no one believes a person who just says things, but interpreting a study is magic.
Vaguely so but the loss of gravitas was a symptom more than anything else.
God is not crass. God is not modern. God is not "hip" or "with it."
And trying to be trendy is unbecoming of those who claim to speak in His name. The loss of Latin mass was a sign that the Catholic Church didn't care about being the Catholic Church anymore. A sign that the laity interpreted, whether consciously or not, correctly.
"Hi there fellow kids" wasn't ever going to work.
The fake study is just part of the brainwashing of their employees. Also to sniff out those stubborn free thinking types that roll their eyes at being demonized for an hour straight in every anecdote mentioned.
Because they need to maintain a facade of neutrality for normies who would otherwise start to notice. Remember, as frustratingly dense as normies can be, the occasions on which they finally do start to notice have been catastrophic for wokies. Which is, incidentally, why it's important to maintain a presence on mainstream social media.
