I think it goes beyond that, "respectful". It still feels too easy for even some longtime members, who'd step up to take the position, to fall into the trap of shutting down things they don't like. The rules can be abused in different ways depending on the mindset of the mod. The current arrangement is an annoying stalemate.
That's kind of what I meant by trustworthy; someone who can be trusted not to go on a crusade for their own personal biases. Someone who can be trusted not to abuse their power. Someone who can be trusted to actually respect free speech.
Basically we need someone who is trustworthy enough to ban the current idiot spamming every thread, but who is simultaneously too lazy to actually moderate the board in any meaningful way.
