I saw a video of someone who is critical of this procedure. Someone who wanted to get to six feet did this procedure, it went wrong and he is now disabled for life. If he believed he wouldn't be attractive before, he certainly won't be now. He gambled and lost. For such a small gain, it really is not worth the risk.
I've heard some men have gone so far as to have surgery to install longer shins.
The film Gattaca came out in 1997 and had that in it, it's not a new concept at this point.
To be fair, I can understand it with midgets and dwarves, even though it's so much risk for so minimal a gain.

agreed. I can certainly empathize in those extreme cases, but I'd encourage a friend/family member not to go through with it.
my understanding is the procedure is rather agonizing as well...
